Bluetooth® in HP EliteBook® 8540w Mobile Workstation
How to enable and disable Bluetooth in HP EliteBook 8540w Mobile Workstation?
HP recently launched the EliteBook 8540w Mobile Workstation featuring the Intel Core i7 or an optional Intel Core i5 processor with a memory capacity of 16 GB. The graphics adapter options include ATI FirePro M5800 with 1 GB dedicated DDR3 video memory and NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M graphics card with 1 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory. Connectivity is made possible with the HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth 2.1 wireless technology. Bluetooth is the commonly used wireless data transfer technique in use today. It enables you to transfer data between devices within a distance of ten meters.
Tips to turn on and off Bluetooth in HP EliteBook 8540w and the things to keep in mind while doing so are as follows:
- Check if Bluetooth is powered on
- Check if drivers are installed
- Check for hardware issues
Check if Bluetooth is powered on
The first thing that you need to make sure before using Bluetooth is to check if the Bluetooth device is powered on and is working properly. To check whether the Bluetooth is powered on, look for the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar if that icon is showing the enabled status.
Check if drivers are installed
Sometimes the Bluetooth device might not be recognized; in such cases you will not be able to use the device. Another situation is when the drivers are installed but the device does not perform properly, a possible reason for this is that the driver installed for the device is not correct or it is outdated. In such circumstances, you should uninstall any driver that you might have installed and install the drivers provided to you in the utility CD of the laptop.
Sometimes even after installing the driver for the component, the device still does not work or it does not power on. In such cases we can make sure that the problem is with the hardware of the device and not in the software.
