- Why uninstall?
- Issues while uninstalling
- Driver re-installation required after uninstalling
HP Envy 15 HD Edition comes pre-loaded with Windows® 7 operating system. Now in many cases users prefer to switch back to the lower version of operating system because of many reasons. The Windows® 7 is a resource consuming operating system and requires high configuration in terms of hard disk, physical memory and other hardware. There may be other reasons to switch to other operating system like open source operating system.
Issues while uninstalling
Windows® 7 by default works in SATA mode. If you are planning to install a different operating system and not Windows® 7, changing the BIOS mode from SATA to ATA helps you resolve most of the issues. So change the HDD type from ATHA/AHC to ATA in the BIOS settings. You can visit the BIOS settings by pressing F8 when you boot your PC. Alternatively, you can delete all the partitions except the one used by boot and integrate the Intel chipset drivers and SATA drivers into the Windows® XP distribution. Changing the BIOS Mode from SATA to ATA also prevents the Blue Screen issue you might run into, while formatting the computer.
Driver is utility software that helps the hardware to function effectively. Since they manage the hardware, they are called device drivers or simply drivers. On installing another operating system in your PC, all driver information is lost with the previous operating system. You will have to install the drivers for the new operating system. As Envy 15 HD provides High Definition display, you will have to install the HDMI drivers from HP's site. You can use software package provided with your PC to install all the basic drivers. For other drivers, there are various websites that provide free download of drivers and you can download from them. Beware of websites that download viruses into your PC on the name of drivers.
