People have become mobile; desktops and laptops have quickly been replaced by netbooks, tablets, and smartphones that provide more flexibility to on-the-go users. However, these smart and sleek devices are limited by their storage capacities, making it hard for a user to coordinate and access all their documents from the device they are using at the moment.

To solve the problem, people resort to all sorts of methods. Some e-mail the files to themselves, some copy them on USB drives, and some use Internet based cloud storage services to backup and store their data. And with cloud storage options becoming immensely popular, our old-fashioned backup drives have already taken their place in the museums. However, each of these methods has their own limitations. Some are complicated, some work well only with certain types of files, and some need web connection to use them.

But, if you are an HP user, there definitely are no reasons to worry. Embedded into the entire Mini product line, HP offers HP Cloud Drive, a personal content management solution, to its users that allows them to access their content from multiple devices, especially the ones that have less storage capacity than traditional desktops and laptops.

Powered by ZumoDrive, HP Cloud Drive acts as a personal content mover that allows netbook consumers to easily sync all their files, folders, and documents on their Minis. The service offers a cross-platform advantage and works well with Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Palm webOS. The files stored on HP Cloud Drive look, feel, and act as if they were stored locally and since ZumoDrive stores the files in the central location, you do not have to worry about their backup.

Let’s take a look at its prime features before discussing the ways to install HP Cloud Drive on your device:

Seamless media integration – HP Cloud Drive allows you to seamlessly stream music, videos, and photos across different devices and platforms.

Uninterrupted offline access – With HP Cloud Drive, you can easily enjoy offline access to frequently used files and folders.

Content auto-detection – For easy bulk importing, HP Cloud Drive recognizes content on devices by type (for example, music, photos, etc.).

Convenient File sharing – Simply create a link to a photo album, document, or folder stored locally on your computer and HP Cloud Drive can auto-detect content for seamless integration.

Impressive, isn’t it? With its multitude of features, HP Cloud Drive eliminates the headache associated with syncing and backing up files and folders across different devices. So, do you want to know the way to setup and install ZumoDrive powered HP Cloud Drive to manage your important files and folders? Let us show you how to do that.

Ways to install and setup HP Cloud Drive

Follow the step-by-step solution given below to install and setup HP Cloud Drive on your device:

Open your web browser and type zumodrive.com

Now click ‘Get ZumoDrive Now’ to download the installation file.

3. Click ‘Save’ to download the application on your computer

4. Now double-click the file to run the installation file.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

6. Now select the Dojo tab to take online training and add additional storage space for free.

7. Once the process is complete, the ZumoDrive will be displayed on your computer as a Device with Removable Storage.

By default, your ZumoDrive will upload and manage all the files stored in your User\Documents folder and subfolders. However, you can customize its default settings to store and manage only your important files and folders.

Change ZumoDrive settings

Go to the Cloud icon by accessing the tool tray and right-click the icon to select ‘Settings.’

Now click ‘Linked Folders’ to get a list of folders and sub-folders that are automatically copied to your personal storage space on HP Cloud Drive.

Deselect a folder by clicking the check box next to the name of the file/folder. Now, that particular file/folder will not be synchronized automatically to the HP Cloud Drive.

This should be simple enough! However, if you are still facing an issue or are stuck mid-way, give us a call. Our expert technicians, available 24*7, 365 days a year, can help you resolve all the issues related to your cloud storage service.

First management turmoil, followed by a slowdown in its PC and printers businesses, and then a lawsuit, troubles seem to be never-ending for this Palo…

First management turmoil, followed by a slowdown in its PC and printers businesses, and then a lawsuit, troubles seem to be never-ending for this Palo Alto-based technology giant. In a fresh row of events, Hewlett-Packard Co has been sued by an investor over an $8.8 billion write-down on the company’s acquisition of British software firm Autonomy that HP bought last year for a whopping $11.1 billion. The investors claim that the company has falsified its finances at Autonomy Corp., leading to a major drop in the stocks.

The complaint filed by the law firm Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd on Monday in a San Francisco federal court claims that the company knew that its statements regarding Autonomy acquisitions were false and misleading. The lawsuit claims that HP gained control of Autonomy on the basis of financial statements that cannot be relied upon and that HP did not reveal to its investors that it tried to undo the Autonomy agreement before closing down the accounting issues.

The lawsuit has come after HP issued an $8.8 billion write-down on its Autonomy acquisition last Tuesday, claiming that the company had inflated sales with improper accounting.

The company said, “HP is extremely disappointed to find that some former members of Autonomy’s management team used accounting improprieties, misrepresentations and disclosure failures to inflate the underlying financial metrics of the company, prior to Autonomy’s acquisition by HP. These efforts appear to have been a willful effort to mislead investors and potential buyers, and severely impacted HP management’s ability to fairly value Autonomy at the time of the deal. We remain 100 percent committed to Autonomy and its industry-leading technology.”

The lawsuit asks for a trial and seeks claims for the damages.

Hewlett Packard (HP) has announced that it will start manufacturing tablets again but instead of using WebOS, the tablets will be powered by the upcoming operating system Windows 8 of Microsoft.

HP launched the webOS TouchPad tablet in July 2011 and then axed its whole Palm-based tablet and smartphone operation six weeks later. The consumers gobbled up the marked-down US $99 TouchPads, but the company seemed like it was done with consumer tablets, at least for a spell.

A few weeks ago, it was leaked on the Internet that an HP tablet running Windows 8 called the ‘Slate 8 is being developed by HP. That tablet reportedly is thinner than the newest iPad at 9.2 mm thin and it will weigh 1.5 pounds, feature a 10.1-inch display, and have battery life between 8 and 10 hours.

Windows 8 is due to be released later this year and is part of Microsoft’s strategy to find a middle platform between tablets and PCs. A near-complete Windows 8 build will be released in early June, but as of now the company has not announced an official launch date for the operating system.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has jumped on the bandwagon of computer makers launching Ultrabook laptops that are based on Intel’s new Ivy Bridge processors. HP has expanded its computing portfolio by introducing more than 30 new business desktops, business laptops, and monitors.

The new consumer Ultrabooks and business laptops have been launched under the Pavilion dv and Sleekbook brand names. The back-to-school lineup — launched before this year’s school is letting out — is based on Intel chips that are debuting in large volumes soon. The best thing about Ivy Bridge processors is that they combine graphics and a microprocessor on a single chip.

“The products we unveiled today are inspired by our customers and confirm our passion to fuse form, function, style, and reliability into great computers and printers,” said Todd Bradley, executive vice president, Printing and Personal Systems at HP. “We are well positioned to continue delivering innovation in the future for customers in China and everywhere else around the globe.”

Among the new products are the HP Envy SpectreXT, the HP EliteBook Folio 9470m, HP Envy Sleekbooks and HP Envy Ultrabook systems. For home consumers, HP is launching the HP t410 All-in-One Smart Zero Client.

Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) has pushed aside Apple Inc. to retake its number one seller of personal computer position in the first quarter of this fiscal. According to research firm Canalys, HP lose out the top position to Apple four months ago.

According to the research firm, HP sold 40,000 more units than Apple’s 15.8 million, which included 11.8 million iPads, in the first three months.

“If you look at the U.S., pads are approaching 40% of all client PC shipments,” said Chris Jones, the VP and Principal Analyst of Canalys. “The rest of the market here was down slightly in Q1. The pad proposition for US consumers is very strong – thanks to the wider choice in content and apps – and the impact on the other categories is more severe.”

“Most of the leading PC vendors have done a reasonable job of offsetting the declines in their netbook shipments over the past year with increased pad business,” said Canalys Research Analyst Tom Evans. “Samsung and Lenovo are two that stand out in terms of substantially increasing overall volume, though ASUS has performed well too. The challenge is breaking out into the really big volumes to challenge the leaders – Apple and Amazon. So far, only Samsung has shown it can routinely ship more than a million pads a quarter.”

Contrary to the speculations that the next-generation Ivy Bridge processors from Intel will be delayed till June, it is anticipated that we could be getting them soon in April 2012 itself embedded in two series of HP Pavilion brand laptops – g-series and dv-series.

Various media reports indicate the HP will be launching the updated versions of its Pavilion-branded consumer laptops in the next week. Designed with a mix of metal and plastic, these laptops are expected to come equipped with Ivy Bridge processors that are much better in performance and power efficiencythan the current Sandy Bridge version.

According to CNET, the HP Pavilion g-series, which includes the 14-inch g4 and the 15.6-inch g6 laptops, is targeted at the mainstream users and will feature a ‘bowl-shaped keyboard and textured touchpad’. There will be three colors available for the consumers to choose from – black, blue, and red. Prices are anticipated to be U.S. $499 and U.S. $529 for the g4- and g6-based models, respectively.

The Pavilion dv-series will be available in three sizes – the 14-inch dv4, the 15.6-inch dv6, and the 17.3-inch dv7. All these models will have a tapered chassis design and a soft-touch base. In addition to this, Beats Audio will also be included in the dv-series models. This will be further enhanced by the presence of a speaker bar just below the display. The three models are expected to start from U.S. $699, U.S. $749, and U.S. $849, respectively.
