Woot!® gives HP TouchPad™ buyers a $100 refund
After the recent slash down of prices of HP TouchPad by HP and the shoot in the sales of this tablet after that, the latest buzz is that Woot!.com is giving $100 back to every customer who purchased HP TouchPad from Woot! earlier to the price cut by HP.
Actually, the deal for this WebOS running tablet on Woot! was a saving of $100 on the then available price. So HP TouchPad was available on Woot! for $379 with an additional $5 shipping charges. That means whoever bought HP TouchPad from Woot! eventually ended up spending a lot more than $99. So needless to say, a huge amount of dissatisfaction among those affected was sure to arise. But then Woot! has now come up with an idea and has sent out an apology e-mail to all those concerned stating, “A businessman gets a nice thing going, makes a deal he thinks will pay off — and everything changes and he’s left holding the bag. Now we know what it feels like to be Lando Calrissian. Anyway, we feel like stupid, scruffy nerf herders about what happened in early August regarding the HP TouchPad 9.7 16GB Wi-Fi Tablet. We know you’re probably not feeling great about it either.”
Apart from crediting $100 back on the credit cards of the customers, Woot! is also offering another option to the customers, a full refund on sending HP TouchPad back. Now, will all this buy back the credibility of the site back to usual and give customers the satisfaction of getting a fair deal remains the question.
