Uninstall Windows® XP in HP Pavilion® dv4i
Guidelines to uninstall Windows XP in HP Pavilion dv4i
The HP Pavilion dv4i is a 14.1" laptop with the Intel Core processor inside. This system offers up to 8GB RAM capacity and 512 MB hard disk capacity. Other important specifications of HP Pavilion dv4i-2100 include the webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the speakers. Some systems may not work with Windows XP or the user might want to remove the Windows XP Operating System to install any new Operating System. To uninstall Windows XP Operating System, you need to follow some steps. To start the uninstallation, the HP Pavilion dv4i system is to be boot in safe mode. Then select the 'Control Panel' from the start menu followed by the 'Add or Remove Programs'. Windows XP would be listed in the installed programs and select it and click the Remove option. After the uninstallation of Windows XP, restart the system.
Following are some of the important things that you need to keep in mind during this uninstallation:
- Login as administrator
- Back up the files from the system
- Disable scanning software
Login as administrator
To uninstall Windows XP, you need to login as the administrator of the HP Pavilion dv4i system. Only the system administrator has the power to uninstall Windows XP. If you are uninstalling Windows XP from your personal system, then automatically the login would be as the administrator. For twin boot systems, you could uninstall Windows XP from the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Back up the files from the system
The windows installation disc will not necessarily back up the entire important files. The disk could not differentiate between the necessary and the unnecessary files. So you need to back up all the important files manually. You could restore those files after installation of new Operating System.
If any of the scanning software is present in the system, you must remember to turn off all those software. If they are enabled during the un-installation, they might prevent the uninstallation. Also update them before the un-installation of Windows XP. Otherwise they would be incompatible with the new Operating System.
