In order to achieve the higher performance of a new Operating System you could uninstall the current one and could replace it with its upgrades. Following are the guidelines for uninstalling Windows XP in HP Pavilion Elite HPE-150t:
- Back up all the data
- Uninstalling process
- Ensuring power backup and restoring device driver CDs
Back up all the data
Before uninstalling Windows XP you have to backup all the data. Data backup means you should store files from your computer to another location. Backup could be done easily and is not expensive also. You have to make sure that you are doing right in the back up procedure. First you need some media to store the backups. Removable media could be used for back up. Floppy, Disk, Tapes, CD-R and CD-RW are available for back up. Irreplaceable files without backup include those in users ‘home directories’ (including /root) and also the configuration files, such as those in the ‘/etc/’ directory. Files on removable drives such as CDs or Floppies do not need to back up.
Set the computer to start in Safe mode and restart it or simply start HP Pavilion Elite HPE-150t and press the ‘F8’ key during the start of loading. Then you could access Safe mode. Sign into the computer with an account that has Administrator Properties. The system administrator only has the authority to uninstall Windows XP. Then click ‘Start’ and ‘Control Panel’ icon respectively. Double-click the ‘Add or Remove Programs’ and it will show a list of programs that you can choose to uninstall. Select ‘Uninstall Windows XP’ from that list. It begins the uninstallation. Reinstall an older version of Windows or the newer Windows XP if the ‘Uninstall Windows XP’ is not present in the ‘Add/Remove’ list.
Loss of power might interrupt the uninstalling process. When the power failure occurs you need to redo the uninstalling from the starting itself. So you have to ensure a proper power back up in HP Pavilion Elite HPE-150t. Device drivers are used for giving the compatibility between the hardware components in the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-150t and the operating system. Before uninstalling Windows XP you should ensure that you have the device driver CD in hand so that it could be used to restore the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-150t back to the manufacturer’s default settings.
