How to configure Windows XP
The following configuration setup will ensure that you optimize the performance of your system software. To protect your privacy while offline, enable disk cleanup to wipe and erase files, i.e. cookies and cache that may contain information, e.g. passwords and websites visited. For fast access and retrieval of files from your hard disk, use disk defragmenter that organizes files scattered in your hard disk. For security purpose, enable firewall protection to filter inbound data packets and hide your PC from view of other communicating devices on the LAN.
In order for the activation and registration of Windows to take place, you will need to have a reliable and effective Internet connection. Furthermore, ensure that security settings, i.e. firewall and proxy do not interfere with the process as direct access to Microsoft Server is required for successful completion of the process.
