Set-up in HP ProBook® 4415s
Do you want to know how to resolve the issue of set-up configuration getting disabled in HP ProBook 4415s?
Your HP ProBook 4415s system comes with excellent features which provide great performance to its users. HP ProBook 4415s system is very compact, attractive and easy to carry. Like all other systems, the basic settings of your HP ProBook 4415s system like speed of the processor, IRQ for devices, boot priorities etc are saved in CMOS. CMOS is a chip fixed on the motherboard of HP ProBook 4415s system. Users can make changes to some of these settings like boot priority, enable or disable devices etc through a utility called BIOS. To provide security for the BIOS set-up you can set a supervisor password. Once you set the supervisor password for BIOS, you will be prompted to enter a password when you try to access the BIOS set-up and if the password you enter is not accepted you get the error message "Setup Configuration is disabled."
The following are some of the tips to resolve the "Setup Configuration is Disabled" error in your HP ProBook 4415s system:
- Clear up BIOS set-up
- Reset the supervisor password using online tool
- Updated BIOS version’s usage
Clear up BIOS set-up
When you do not remember the password to enter the BIOS set-up, you can clear the BIOS. You would loose all the user defined settings if you clear the BIOS. You would find jumper to reset the BIOS or you could release the BIOS battery and connect it back. This would not be an easy process and need the help of an expert. Once you reset the BIOS, supervisor password would be erased and you would not be prompted for a password when you try to enter the BIOS set-up.
Reset the supervisor password using online tool
When you load the Windows operating system, you can connect to the Internet and search for tools or software that could read your BIOS password. Some software that you could help you to reset BIOS password are CMOSPwd, !BIOS etc. It is suggested to contact a computer technician before you run any tool which could change the BIOS settings because any invalid changes in BIOS could cause a system error.
The process of updating BIOS is also called as "BIOS Flashing" If you still get the error message "Configuration set up is disabled" even after clearing the password, you can update your BIOS version. You could visit the HP website and download the latest version of BIOS that is compatible with HP ProBook 4415s system. The latest BIOS version is downloaded with the instructions that you need to follow to flash the BIOS. An incompatible BIOS updation could result in serious system crash.
